Broad research topics: Ecology and biogeography of subterranean ecosystems; Biospeleology; Arachnology; Conservation biology.

Research interests: My research activity focuses primarily on the study of subterranean ecosystems and hypogean organisms as models in ecological studies both in karst and volcanic habitats. The topics addressed include community responses to anthropogenic disturbances, biomonitoring, biodiversity conservation, the study of adaptations and ecological niches, functional ecology, and responses to global changes.

Projects: At MEG, I work as a postdoc on the DarCo project, led by Dr. Stefano Mammola. My work primarily focuses on mapping subterranean biodiversity patterns across Europe and developing a clear plan to incorporate subterranean ecosystems into the European Union (EU) Biodiversity Strategy for 2030.
