Broad research specialisms: Antibiotic resistance, WasteWater treatments, Microbial Ecology, Co-selection between antibiotic resistance and metal resistance genes, Application of innovative NGS techniques to investigate pathogenic bacterial community and antibiotic resistome.

Research interests: I am interested to investigate the cycle of antibiotic resistant bacteria from the primary hosts to the aquatic environment. Furthermore I am involved in discovery of innovative disinfection processes to decrease the abundance of putative pathogenic and antibiotic resistant bacteria in WasteWater.

Research projects: The main research projects where I was or I am involved are focused on the investigation of the bacterial community composition and antibiotic resistome in WasteWater before and after disinfection, in fresh or seawater, in sediment, in feces from human or animals and in biofilm present on microplastic or on other artificial material.
